Definition:
A therapeutic method, based on the principles of homeopathic
drainage, utilizing extracts of embryonic tissues from fresh
plants, such as plant buds, young shoots, or rootlets.**
PHYTOTHERAPY Gemmotherapy comes under the category of
plant medicine and is a form of Phytotherapy. While plant
medicine has served us well for centuries, Gemmotherapy is a
revolutionary, extremely modern Phytotherapy. In times past, it
was the practice to use the plant in its adult stage. Now,
however, it has been clearly demonstrated that plant tissues in
an active growth stage, such as buds, shoots or rootlets, are
rich sources of growth factors, vitamins, hormones, auxins,
gibberellins, anthocyanins, and essential minerals and trace
elements not found in the whole, adult plant.**
Precision Therapy
Utilizing the embryonic tissue of the plant has allowed us to
isolate precise therapeutic effects far beyond those seen in the
adult plant. Take for example the linden tree. Our grandmothers
would prescribe linden tea in the evening to improve sleep. Now
experimentation in pharmacology has objectively shown that the
TILIA buds develop tranquilizing properties which could be
compared with those of the Diazepam group of tranquilizers.
Thus, Gemmotherapy has given us the ability to demonstrate the
pharmacological superiority of the bud versus the fully
developed plant.**
HOMEOPATHIC DRAINAGE Gemmo remedies act to open up
channels which enable the toxins liberated by the homeopathic
medication to reach the exterior and finally to be excreted from
the body. This reflects the fundamental principle of "cure by
treatment from deep within and towards the surface."
The term "Drainage" reflects the dynamics of this therapeutic
method, which consists of the stimulation of one or more
excretory organs, such as the liver, kidneys, or skin. The
ailments to which we fall victim develop on a terrain
compromised by the slowing down of the eliminator organs coupled
with a growing pool of toxic substances. An aid to return
to health is to decrease this toxic charge through drainage.**
Gemmotherapy and Homeopathy as Partners
Society has changed considerably since the time that Dr.
Hahnemann, the pioneer of homeopathy, was seeing patients.
Many of us today are loaded down with tranquilizers and sleeping
pills. Blocking antibodies, diuretics and calcium deposits
are seen in heart and stress patients. Hormonotherapy and
progesterone treatment flourishes. In addition, we've seen
the development of a wide use of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories,
analgesics and antihistamines. Homeopathic consultation becomes
difficult because the patient no longer manifests the
characteristic clear symptoms needed for diagnosis. For example,
insomnia would no longer be the manifesting symptom of an
ARSENICUM on sleeping pills! Gemmotherapy drainage becomes ever
more vital. The results of this therapy allow, where possible,
for the elimination of classic medications such as
tranquilizers, thus enabling the patient to reach a state that
permits a more precise diagnosis and the intervention of basic
homeopathic remedies.** |
